How to fish for warmouth

Warmouth are a stout, big-mouthed sunfish of warm, weedy, mucky ponds, swamps, and slow backwaters, more solitary and cover-loving than the schooling bluegill and tolerant of the kind of low-oxygen, vegetated water many sunfish avoid. They hold tight to stumps, roots, and dense cover and will take worms, small jigs, spinners, and small minnows fished right in the cover. They're a willing, if not abundant, light-tackle target and reasonable eating. On a location page, warmouth are a cover-loving panfish of warm, weedy, low-oxygen water - often found alongside bowfin and bullheads in the same mucky habitat.
