How to fish for spoonhead sculpin

Spoonhead sculpin are a slender, flat-headed sculpin of cold water, found from streams to surprisingly deep areas of large cold lakes, living on the bottom and feeding on invertebrates. They aren't an angling target - they're a forage fish and, like their relatives, a sensitive one that needs cold, clean, well-oxygenated water. Their presence is an indicator of high-quality coldwater habitat and part of the forage base for lake trout and other deep, cold-water predators. On a location page they're best understood as a sign of a cold, clean, well-oxygenated system rather than a fish to pursue.
