How to fish for shortnose cisco
Shortnose cisco are a deepwater cisco of the Great Lakes now believed to be extinct or nearly so, having disappeared from Lakes Michigan, Huron, and Ontario through the same combination of overfishing and invasive-species impacts that devastated the native deepwater cisco community. They're effectively a historical and record-keeping entry rather than a fish anyone can target today. In life they were a cold-water, deep-dwelling, plankton-feeding coregonine and part of the deep-water forage base. A modern record under this name should be treated with caution, since the species is not considered a viable, catchable presence.
