How to fish for rudd
Rudd are a European cyprinid introduced to parts of the region, a deep-bodied, golden fish with red fins, superficially like a large golden shiner, that lives in warm, weedy lakes, ponds, and slow rivers and feeds on plants and invertebrates. They tolerate warm, weedy, low-oxygen water well and can hybridize with golden shiner. They're caught incidentally on small baits and occasionally targeted, but as a non-native with the potential to spread and alter vegetation and food webs, they're generally considered undesirable. On a location page, rudd are an established invasive of warm, weedy water rather than a valued target.
