Mottled sculpin are a small, bottom-hugging fish of cold, clean streams and lake shallows, with a broad head and fanned pectoral fins built for holding position on the bottom in current. They aren't an angling target - they're a forage fish eaten by trout and other predators, and a favorite natural food that many streamer and sculpin-imitating fly patterns are designed to mimic.
