How to fish for deepwater cisco

Deepwater cisco (Coregonus johannae) were a large deepwater cisco of Lakes Huron and Michigan, driven to extinction by the mid-twentieth century through overfishing and the impacts of invasive species - they no longer exist anywhere and cannot be caught. They're included here for historical and record-keeping completeness only. In life they were a deep, cold-water, plankton-feeding coregonine and an important forage fish; their loss is part of the well-documented collapse of the Great Lakes' native deepwater cisco community. Any modern record under this name reflects historical data or the misidentification of a surviving cisco relative.
