How to fish for brook silverside

Brook silversides are a slim, surface-oriented schooling minnow that skims the top of the water in clear lakes and slow rivers, feeding on tiny insects and plankton. They're a forage fish, not a rod target - too small and surface-bound to catch on conventional tackle - but they're part of the diet of bass, pike, and other predators, and their surface-schooling habit sometimes gives away where feeding gamefish are pushing bait.
